Kelsea Ballerini ‘never thought’ she’d win ACM award

LAS VEGAS, March 24 (UPI) — Country starlet Kelsea Ballerini has been announced as the Academy of Country Music’s New Female Vocalist of the Year.

In response to her first big ACM win, the “Dibs” singer and winner of Billboard’s Rising Star award said its a “moment and a milestone that is making me stop and reflect on the last year and a half,” according to Rolling Stone Country.

“I’m so humbled and thankful for the support and ways that radio/people have embraced me and my music this far. Never thought I’d have an ACM award sitting on my shelf. . . crazy.”

The ACM Awards announced the three new artist winners ahead of the ceremony’s April 3 broadcast in Las Vegas, bringing news of Chris Stapleton’s win as New Male Vocalist of the Year and Old Dominion as New Vocal Duo or Group of the Year.

Stapleton is a leading nominee in the ACM running with six additional nominations to his name. He also recently won two Grammy awards. Old Dominion was up against the likes of Parmalee, Maddie & Tae, Brothers Osborne and A Thousand Horses for the award.

The ACM awards show will air on CBS on April 3.
