LOS ANGELES, April 1 (UPI) — ABC has confirmed it will air its traditional Nurses Ball-themed episodes on General Hospital May 24-26.
Founded in 1994 by Port Charles entrepreneur Lucy Coe, played by Lynn Herring, the Nurses Ball is oneof the fictional upstate New York city’s most glamorous charity events. Dedicated to HIV/AIDS awareness and research, the gala typically features Port Charles denizens decked out in red-carpet fashion, memorable musical performances and plenty of drama.
“We are pleased to bring back the Nurses Ball this year and delighted that Aveeno will continue asour corporate sponsor,” Vicki Dummer, head of current series programming, said in a statement. “The Nurses Ball brings awareness to AIDS research while giving our immensely talented cast a chance to showcase their vocal talents.”
“This will be GH‘s 12th Nurses Ball and each year our wonderful viewers have come to expectplenty of music, dance, glamour and of course an abundance of drama,” added Frank Valentini,the soap’s executive producer. “There’s a lot of exciting performances and appearances inthe works.”
The daytime drama is to celebrate its 53rd anniversary on Friday.
